From 29 August 2025, all shipments to the United States — including those under $800 USD (approximately £625) — may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs clearance procedures. This change follows the removal of the U.S. de minimis exemption.
To avoid delays or returns of your order, please note:
As a U.S. customer, you are the Importer of Record. Michael Ruh Studio is the shipper.
If this is your first time importing goods into the U.S., U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may require you to complete an Importer ID Form (CBP Form 5106) to register you as an importer. You do not need to complete this form unless your courier or U.S. Customs specifically requests it.
You do not need to complete or send this form in advance.
If it is required, your courier (FedEx / UPS / DHL) or U.S. Customs will contact you directly with instructions on how to complete and submit it electronically through their secure system.
You only need to file it once — not for every order.
Learn more on the official CBP website.
Please note: Do not email or send this form to us. We do not collect or store any customs documentation.
Ensure it is correct and that someone will be available to sign for delivery.
These are not included at checkout.
Your courier (FedEx / UPS / DHL) will contact you directly if any fees are due before delivery.
You place your order on our website as usual.
Your parcel ships from the U.K. with Michael Ruh Studio listed as the shipper.
The courier acts as the customs broker and presents your parcel to CBP.
If duties or taxes apply, the courier will request payment directly from you.
Once cleared, the courier delivers to your door (signature required).
We cannot deliver until customs paperwork and duties are settled.
If charges go unpaid or parcels are unclaimed, they will be returned to us. Refunds will be made minus all shipping, customs, and admin/restocking costs.
We often work with interior designers and trade professionals who order pieces for their clients. Please read carefully if you are purchasing on behalf of someone else within the United States.
From 29 August 2025, all shipments to the U.S. — including those under $800 USD — may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs procedures. These are the responsibility of the Importer of Record, which in this case will be the recipient (your client) listed on the shipping address.
How this works:
When you place an order for delivery directly to your client, please use your client’s full name and delivery address for the shipping address at checkout.
Your client will appear as the Importer of Record on the commercial invoice and U.S. customs paperwork.
The courier (FedEx / UPS / DHL) will contact your client directly to complete customs clearance and request payment of any duties or taxes before delivery.
You will not be contacted for customs matters once the parcel has shipped.
Important to note:
The recipient must complete CBP Form 5106 (U.S. Customs Importer ID form) if they have not previously imported goods from abroad. They do not need to complete this form unless your courier or U.S. Customs specifically requests it.
Please ensure your client is aware of this process before placing the order, as unclaimed or unpaid parcels will be returned to us.
Refunds will be issued minus all shipping, customs, and administrative costs.
We comply with the new EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) for all direct-to-consumer orders.
To ensure compliance:
We have appointed an authorised Responsible Person based in Germany, whose details are included with your order.
All products are clearly labelled with relevant identification (e.g. batch number or product code).
Safety and usage information is provided with each shipment where applicable.
A contact method is available for you to report any safety concerns.
We have successfully resumed B2C shipping to France, Germany, and other EU countries. If your country is not listed at checkout, please contact us directly.
We deliver to most countries worldwide. However, we are unable to deliver to PO boxes, as a signature is required upon delivery.
All our products have shipping costs calculated based on their weight and destination.
We reserve the right to amend the shipping cost if necessary, although this would be highly unlikely.
If any changes to shipping costs are unsatisfactory, we will offer a full refund before dispatch.
If your country is not listed at checkout, please contact us to place your order manually.
You will receive an Order Confirmation email as soon as you place an order. Please keep this in a safe place, as we may refer to it in any correspondence.
If you do not receive this email, please contact us so we can investigate and confirm your order has been placed successfully.
We offer FREE UK shipping on orders over £100.
For orders under £100, we charge a flat rate of £10.00 P&P.
This includes UK mainland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man.
For international orders (including Europe and the Rest of the World), shipping is calculated based on the weight of your order and destination.
You will see the exact shipping cost at checkout.
If your country is not featured during checkout, please contact us to arrange your order.
We use UPS or FedEx for international orders, and occasionally Royal Mail for UK deliveries.
All shipments are tracked and require a signature on delivery.
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email with tracking details.
Yes. Orders shipped outside the UK may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, and clearance fees, which are set by the destination country and are not included at checkout.
These charges may be due upon delivery and are the customer’s responsibility.
If you are sending a gift, please note the recipient may be required to pay these charges.
Michael Ruh Studio does not accept liability for additional taxes, fees, or delays related to customs clearance. If a parcel is returned to us due to unpaid customs charges, you will receive a refund minus all associated costs, including return shipping, customs fees, and a restocking/admin fee.
If goods are not collected or cleared through customs and are not returned to us, no refund will be issued.
